Dental Crowns and Dental Bridges Improve Function and Aesthetics
Dental crowns and dental bridges are some of the most common treatments in dentistry, used to restore damaged or missing teeth. Crowns are lifelike ceramic teeth that are placed over your natural teeth or dental implants in order to restore function and appearance. Dental bridges consist of multiple crowns attached together that can span the gap of missing teeth by being attached to abutment teeth or dental implants. Traditionally, these types of restorations would take days or weeks to be milled and placed. But we offer same day crowns created by our state-of-the-art CEREC® machine, that can restore your tooth, or teeth, in just one day.
Common Uses for Same Day Crowns and Dental Bridges
• Renew cracked, worn or chipped teeth
• Protect teeth treated with a root canal
• Restore dental implants
• Replace one or more missing teeth
The Difference Between Traditional and Same Day Crowns
Traditionally, dental crowns are made at an off-site lab and can take weeks to be constructed and sent back for fitting, but at Gloucester Dental, we have invested in state-of-the-art CEREC® technology to craft same day crowns for patients. CEREC® is an in-house milling machine that can mill same day crowns within an hour, allowing you to be fitted with them that very day. Same day crowns benefit those who are in need of tooth repairs quickly and do not want to wear uncomfortable temporary teeth as the CEREC® restoration is your permanent piece. Patients enjoy the many benefits CEREC® same day crowns offer over the traditional method for crowns.
CEREC® Same Day Crowns
After taking images of your tooth and surrounding structures using an intraoral camera, our in-house CEREC® machine will begin creating your new same day crown. The process typically takes under an hour and can be fitted that very appointment. CEREC® and our doctors are able to create highly lifelike same day crowns that blend in seamlessly with your smile’s shape and color.
Traditional Dental Crowns
Goopy impressions are taken of your mouth and sent to an off-site dental lab that will create the crown for you. This process can take several weeks and you will need to come back for a second appointment to fit the crown and make any necessary adjustments to size, color and fit.
